It's possible to add another name to your list of filmmakers trying to make the next Star Wars film. It's unclear who his writing partner could be, but it's reported that Lindelof is developing and co-writing a film with him. According to reports, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is in discussions to direct.
Since the release of Rise of Skywalker, the Star Wars franchise has not appeared in the big screen. The director of Last Jedi, Rian Johnson, has been working on a new trilogy of Star Wars movies, as well as Kevin Feige and Taika Waititi. As of this September, the project no longer has an official release date, but it did have a director attached.

Disney had a different plan for the Star Wars franchise. At one point in 2015, the studio had a plan to release a new Star Wars film every year. The focus of the studio has shifted towards smaller screens with shows like Andor and The Mandalorian.
It is not known when Lindelof will make a Star Wars film, who will star, or when the film will be released. The project seems to have the most traction out of all the films currently in development at the studio according to Deadline. It is possible that it will bring an end to Star Wars.
