Aaron Rodgers walks off the field in Washington after the Packers lost to the Commanders
Aaron Rodgers was left to ponder another Packers defeat

Tom Brady and the Green Bay Packers lost to struggling teams with back-up quarterbacks, as the other team lost to Tom Brady and the New England patriots.

This is the worst start by the quarterbacks in seven weeks, with Brady and Rodgers both losing.

The New York Giants won a nail-biter to go 6-1 and the Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl for the second time.

While two greats start to look their age, future star Joe Burrow produced a record display in an emphatic victory over the Atlanta Falcons as the Cincinnati Bengal began to play more like the team that made last season's Super Bowl.

The Dallas Cowboys' defence dominated the Detroit Lions, while the Baltimore Ravens and New York Jets both won, while the Denver Broncos lost.

Time running out for Brady and Rodgers?

The only other time Brady had a losing record after seven games was his first full season in 2002, but this could be his last year in the league.

It is the fifth time in Brady's incredible career that his team scored three points or less, as they lost as big favorites for a second week in a row.

The Carolinas went into the game with only one win, having fired their head coach and traded away their best attacking player.

Brady said no-one feels good about where they are. No one likes how we play or what we are doing. We need to extricate ourselves from it.

After seven games, the Packers have never had a losing record and are now 3-4.

Rodgers, 38, has struggled all season and again the Packers could not muster enough points to deal with Washington's popular back-up.

Heinicke signed for Washington in 2020 after studying for an engineering degree. He was lively as he led the Commanders to a big upset.

The combined record of Rodgers and Brady is their worst since Rodgers got the starting job.

Chiefs win Super Bowl rematch at 49ers

Mecole Hardman jumps in for a touchdown for the Chiefs against the 49ers
Mecole Hardman scores one of his three touchdowns for the Chiefs

After losing to the Buffalo Bills, Patrick Mahomes showed why the Chiefs are still a Super Bowl contender as he ripped through the league's top defence during a 44-23 victory at the 49ers.

Mecole Hardman became the first receiver in the Super Bowl era to score two rushing touchdown and one receiving score in the same game, while Patrick Mahomes did the same.

The 49ers opened up a 10-point lead early in the game but, just as they did in the 2020 Super Bowl, the Chiefs came back strongly and remain among the leading contender this year.

New York, New York as Jets and Giants roll on

Big things are happening in the 'Big Apple' as both New York teams won again, with the Jets defence grinding out a 16-9 victory at the Broncos while the Giants won another close game 23-17 at the Jacksonville Jags.

The Giants are the first team in the history of the league to start 6-1 with every game decided by eight points or less, and they have won six of them.

The Jags had a chance to win the game on the last play of the game, but the defence stopped Christian Kirk one yard short of a potential winning touchdown.

The Jets are 5-2 after a fourth win in a row thanks to a blazing 62-yard touchdown run from rookies, and a defensive effort that kept the Broncos, without the injured Russell Wilson, to single digits.

The Jets might have lost Hall for the season as he was carted off with an injury.

Burrow leads Bengals blitz and Baltimore don't blow it this time

In the first half, Burrow had 345 yards passing and three touchdown throws as the Bengals beat the Falcons 35-17.

He became the first player to have five games of 400 or more in the first three years of his career.

After losing a few close matches early on, the Bengals are now looking a lot more like a Super Bowl contender.

The Ravens, who had blown three double-digit leads this season, survived another comeback to hold off the Cleveland team.

In other games, the Las Vegas Raiders beat the Houston Texans 38-20 and the Seattle Seahawks defeated the Los Angeles Clippers 37-23.
