The dragons are ready to dance after the storm has passed. The finale of the first season of House of the Dragon was one of the best episodes of the show to date. The Dance of the Dragons, the civil war of succession that divided the Targaryens and eventually ended in misery for everyone involved, took place in the season that preceded it. The pieces are in place after nine episodes of political intrigue, drama, scheming, and dragons.

The previous episode of "The Green Council" focused on the greens and their attempts to crown Aegon II as king of the Seven Kingdoms. Rhaenys escaped King's Landing at the end of the ninth episode and flew to Dragonstone to warn her niece about the greens' plot. Daemon was left to plan their next move after Rhaenyra went into early labor. Rhaenyra ordered that no decision should be made without her consent.

Rhaenyra loses her baby, making the situation worse. During the funeral, Ser Erryk Cargyll, who helped Rhaenys escape King's Landing, arrives at Dragonstone with King Viserys' crown, and Daemon puts it on Rhaenyra's head. The blacks receive a visit from Otto Hightower, who is going to bring peace to the conflict. Dragonstone is offered to be given to Rhaenyra and the lands to be passed to Jacaerys after the death of the Queen. Daemon immediately shuts the proposal down.

After Rhaenyra stated her desire to avoid war and honor her father's wishes regarding the Song of Ice and Fire prophecy, Daemon attacked her. Rhaenyra understood her late father never told Daemon about Aegon the Conqueror's dream and the threat from the North when he was angry with Daemon.

After a one-to-one with Rhaenys, Corlys Velaryon pledges the Velaryon fleet to her cause. Rhaenyra told her children to avoid fighting as they are messengers only.

A message from his mother is to be delivered to Lord Borros Baratheon. Should the Stormlord back Aegon II's claim, he would marry one of Borros' daughters. Lord Borros sent him back to Rhaenyra because he didn't get any offers.

The confrontation between Alicent and Rhaenyra in episode seven of "Driftmark" was a reference to the confrontation between Aemond andLuke. Lord Borros stopped them before Aemond could attack and ordered his men to escort him back to his dragon.

Aemond is chasing a man atop Vhagar after he jumped on the storms on the Arrax. The young Velaryon prince evades his uncle before his dragon shoots Dragonfire at Vhagar. Aemond was shocked by Vhagar's actions in a departure from Fire & Blood. Rhaenyra received the news of her son's death at the end of the show, and looked into the camera with a lot of emotion on her face.

Fans will have to wait two years before the second season of House of the Dragon starts. The 2-year wait for the next chapter in this exciting and larger-than-life saga might seem like torture, but that is the landscape we are currently living in. Based on House of the Dragon's success, it's possible that the network won't allow too much time between seasons. Fans will have to take comfort in the amazing first season and look forward to a promising future. The dance of the dragons is about to start.
