Korean Air A330 Involved in Runway Excursion at Cebu Airport

There was a runway excursion after a Korean Air plane landed at the airport.

There was a flight from South Korea to the Philippines.

Korean Air said that the aircraft landed in bad weather. There are no injuries or casualties, according to Korean Air.

The aircraft took off at 19:20 local time. It appeared to have tried to land twice, before it suffered a runway excursion on its third attempt.

There were storms in the area at the time. The disaster risk reduction management office chief in Lapu-Lapu City said that the airport operations have been stopped. There are flights going back to their origin or going to the other side of the country.

Korean Air has published information about the incident.

• There were no injuries and all passengers safely evacuated the aircraft. 
• The aircraft attempted to land twice in poor weather, and on the third attempt overran the runway. 
• Passengers have been escorted to three local hotels and an alternative flight is being arranged.
