The AP college football poll has LSU and South Carolina in it.

The first six teams in the AP Top 25 did not play over the weekend.

Georgia is the top ranked team in the country for the third week in a row. The Ohio State received 18 first-place votes and 1,513 points, while the Georgia received 31 first-place votes and 1,530 points.

After a second-half comeback against Kansas State, the Horned Frogs moved up in the rankings. Oregon moved up two spots to a season-high eighth.

USC and Wake Forest tied for 10th place.

LSU, in its first season under coach Brian Kelly, handed Ole Miss its first loss of the season in emphatic fashion and moved back into the rankings.

The tigers were ranked for a week before they lost to Tennessee. After falling behind by 14 in the first half, they were able to come back and win 42-3.

South Carolina has not been ranked since the opening weekend of the season. The win over Texas A&M improved the South Carolina's record to 5-2. They haven't been ranked this late in the season in four years.

The LSU-Crimson Tide game will be the first between ranked teams since the SEC West rivals played a 1 vs 2 game in 2019.

Next week, Alabama is off as well.

Each of the past two seasons, the Tigers were unranked when they played the Tide. It was the 14th season in a row that LSU and Alabama were both ranked.

LSU and Tulane are both ranked for the first time in over a decade, though the Louisiana schools were heading in different directions at the same time.

After being in the Top 25 for two weeks at the beginning of October, LSU fell out and finished 4-7. The Green Wave went on to win seven games.

The Longhorns were unranked after blowing a second-half lead. The Longhorns did not fare as well as they would have liked.

Mississippi State was knocked out of the rankings after catching Alabama and losing a game. For the first time in three years, the bulldogs scored a touchdown. On the last play of the game, it came.
