Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam.

Black Adam has been in the making for 15 years and has finally been seen in theaters. When he was attached to the film in 2007, his star power was not what it is now. The idea of this movie getting made, much less coming out, seemed impossible as Johnson continued to build his star power through various films, shows, and wrestling jobs, to say nothing of how the state of DC's theatrical films seems to change every few weeks How is the movie? That's right, well...eh.

Critics have mixed reactions to the film. The ones who have been able to enjoy the film have taken a shine to it, and those that haven't made their dislike known for it is pretty clear. The main metric of success for Johnson appears to be the fact that audiences seem to be more fond of it. Beyond the box office?

Black Adam could be worse, but it could be better. It would be better if it were willing to be worse. There has been a lot of discussion about the hierarchy of power in the DC Universe changing, but the film itself doesn't have anything new to offer that you couldn't get anywhere else. While Johnson is good in this, he has been better in other things, and the film feels like it's trying too hard. If one of this year's biggest shows didn't involve superheroes casually crushing and lasering people to death, a movie that puts such an emphasis on its lead character being different from other superheros would probably carry more weight.

Maybe you feel a different way. What do you think of Black Adam? The only real one that the film has is one that WB has had no problem admitting these last few days.
