The San Francisco 49ers will have a new running back on the field on Sunday.

Christian McCaffrey is expected to play against the Kansas City Chiefs according to Ian Rapoport.

After firing head coach Matt Rhule and starting the season with a 1-5 record, the Carolina Panthers traded running back Christian McCaffrey to the San Francisco 49ers.

The lack of time he would have to learn the team's game plan made it uncertain if he would be available for the game.

"I don't know if we'll be able to get him here for Sunday or not," he said on the show. He will be here the following Sunday. Right now, I'm in a wait-and-see approach. We need to see where he is after this happened so fast.

The 49ers have a package of plays in their game plan for Christian McCaffrey, according to a report.

The San Francisco rushing attack has been effective. Wilson leads the team with 400 rushing yards. 105 of Deebo Samuel's 136 yards came in the first two games.

He's one of the best running backs in the league. In six games, the Pro Bowler has 118 touches and 670 yards from scrimmage.

Trent Williams, Nick Bosa, Mike McGlinchey, and Jimmie Ward are all expected to return. The two people who did practice on Friday are listed as questionable.

After last week's 24-20 loss to the Buffalo Bills, the offense will be able to rely on the availability of McCaffrey.

San Francisco is 3-3 this season due to injuries and erratic performances. The team is in a three-way tie with the Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks for first place in the division.
