Acho: 49ers making Super Bowl push with McCaffrey trade (1:49)

Sam Acho and Ryan Clark talk about how the 49ers can win the Super Bowl. There is a time and a place for it.

Sources told Adam that Christian is expected to make his 49ers debut against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

Three days after the 49ers and Carolina Panthers agreed to a blockbuster trade for the star running back, he flew to San Francisco and joined his new team.

According to sources, the 49ers have a package of plays in the game plan for Christian McCaffrey.

It's one reason the 49ers and Los Angeles Rams were as interested in trading for McCaffrey as they were -- both teams valued his football IQ and the Rams even considered him to be a running back.

The 49ers were not sure if their new running back would be ready for the game. The 49ers and Carolina agreed to a trade that sent San Francisco's second, third, fourth, and fifth-round picks in the next four years to the Hurricanes.

Kyle Shanahan said Friday that the decision on his playing status would be up to the team, but he added that it would have more to do with whether he could quickly learn the offense or not.

He missed 23 of 33 games in 2020 and 21 because of injury. He played 85% of Carolina's snaps this year and his 670 yards from scrimmage rank fourth in the league.

Several notables will return for the 49ers on Sunday against the Chiefs, including defensive end Nick Bosa, left tackle Trent Williams, defensive back Jimmie Ward, and right tackle Mike McGlinchey.
