Azeez Ojulari was placed on injured reserve after he suffered a setback in his calf injury.
Collins was added to the roster for the game against the Jags.
Collins, a former All- Pro who was signed just over two weeks ago, was elevated from the practice squad Saturday and will make his season debut against the Jags. He could be a sub-package LB. Collins started in his first four seasons with the Giants.
Slowly, New York has brought Collins with it.
"We're going to give him some more reps this week," Brian said earlier this week. He just arrived, so we'll see how he is conditioning-wise. He will be able to pick up the defense. He's been a pleasure to work with. I am happy we have him. We don't know where he is.
"Again, I think putting someone out there early or when they're not ready -- and I'm not saying he is or he isn't -- but I think that you just need to be fair to the player and make sure that they feel comfortable with where they're at
The Giants also elevated defensive lineman Ryder Anderson from the practice squad.
He missed the first two games of the season due to a calf injury. He hurt his other leg in the win over the Bears and will be out for at least four more games.
The pass-rusher has played in two games this season. He doesn't have a lot of sacks.
Ojulari had eight sacks as a rookies last season. He wasn't practicing Friday.
He didn't deny that he suffered a setback.
Yes." I believe he is working at it. "We'll see where we're at."
