Magic Johnson is in talks to purchase a stake in the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Raiders are majority owned by the family of the late Al Davis, and Johnson has been assembling a team of investors recently.
The group was looking into the team. There is still a chance that the deal will fall apart.
An offer for a minority stake in the Raiders was reported by Forbes in August.
Johnson has a stake in the Dodgers. A group led by Philadelphia 76ers managing partner Josh Harris tried to buy a stake in the Denver Broncos, but the team was sold.
Johnson sold his 4.5 percent share of the Lakers in 1994.
The Raiders have been owned by the Davis family for almost 50 years. Al Davis was the principal owner of the business from 1972 to 2011. Mark has been the team's leader for the past 10 years.
