The Washington Commanders placed the quarterback on injured reserve, meaning he won't be able to face his old teams.

He had surgery on his ring finger. He injured his finger while following through on a pass in the first half of the Chicago Bears game.

He won't play against his former teams in October and November.

Heinicke will start against the Packers. The backup will be a young man.

Washington's offense hasn't been performing well recently. The Commanders scored 55 points in the first two games and 47 in the last four.

He has thrown 10 touchdown passes and six picks. He has been sacked more than any other player in the league.

Washington has had a lot of injuries on the offense. There will be no tight end for the third game in a row because of a calf injury.

Dotson is questionable with a injury. He re-aggravated his left leg in practice Thursday and was on the verge of returning Sunday. He didn't play in the last two games.

The tight end and tackle are questionable. Four centers have been started by Washington.
