Erling Haaland scores a penalty against Brighton
Haaland is the first Manchester City player to score in seven consecutive home games since Sergio Aguero in 2018

Erling Haaland scored twice as Manchester City equalled a 91-year-old top-flight record.

They had completed their 10th straight home win in the league. They have scored at least three goals in all of them, something no side had done before.

Haaland has 17 goals in 11 league games and 12 in 5 home games.

Kevin de Bruyne scored the best goal of the day when he curled a shot into the top corner from 25 yards.

After Leandro Trossard's second-half effort beat Ederson from the corner of the area, there was hope that the Seagulls would come back.

The Seagulls are still without a win under new boss Roberto de Zerbi, while Manchester City are close to the top of the table.

Haaland the scoring machine

Haaland was on a barren run of two hours without a goal after he failed to score atLiverpool.

He talked about how much speed, power and awareness he has.

Ederson deserved a lot of credit for launching a long ball from his penalty area over the top of the Seagulls.

The ball was knocked past the keeper by Haaland after he dashed out of his goal. The ball was rolled into an empty net after he barged out of the way.

Haaland has gone without a goal in the league for over an hour.

He drove home a penalty after the video assistant referee stopped play to rule that Lewis Dunk had committed a foul.

At the Ballon d'Or awards last week, it was announced that City had been named 'Club of the Year', marking the 600th goal scored by the manager.

Some things weren't perfect for City. Just before Trossard's goal, Ryokod missed a chance to put them three up.

In the final seconds of the game, Aymeric Laporte needed treatment for an injury that could make him a doubt for Tuesday's match.

Brighton complaints

Both City's first-half goals were met with anger by the Seagulls.

In the first half, Dunk argued that Silva kicked him rather than the other way round for the penalty, as he was still complaining to the referee that he was foul by Haaland.

Visiting teams need to go their way if they want to leave the stadium with anything.

When Graham Potter left for CHELSEA, there were some tough games to come for the Seagulls.

That is two points from five games for De Zerbi before Potter comes back.

There have been subtle changes to Potter's team by the Italian who wants Moises Caicedo andAlexis Mac Allister to get on the ball more often in the middle of the park.

The goal was in the speculative category. He failed to equalise when he sprinted into the box and tried to beat Ederson from an impossible angle.
