The researchers at Heriot-Watt University have created a robot that can kill roaches.

We wonder why it took them so long to think of such a machine.

We understand if the idea of using a light beam to target pests makes you uneasy. According to New Scientist, the machine's inventors believe that it could be used to replace toxins in pesticides.

The engineers behind the machine say that their invention could be used to target a variety of bugs, but they think roaches are the perfect test subject.

"You can kill any pests if you can kill them," said the project's lead.

This is how it happens. The device consists of a computer, two cameras, and a 1,600 watt laser.

The device can only barely keep up with the roaches, and the researchers say there is some room for improvement. The next step is to train the robot to hit the insects' abdomens in order to defeat them. It's better to be safer than sorry.

There are lots of uses. Rakhmatulin said it was a very serious possibility if we talked about industrial or agricultural applications. Laser prices are not so high, so it's very cheap.

If you wanted to install one in your own home, Rakhmatulin wouldn't recommend it.

The scientist said that lasers can cause serious eye damage. I don't think it's possible to use it for home applications.

The laser can be used to target and kill roaches.

The inventor of CyborgCockroach says it will only be used for good.
