As per a regulatory filing on June 28, this is the first major announcement by Akash Ambani as the head of the company. His elevation was announced along with the news that he was stepping down from his position.

The True 5G service from Reliance Jio was officially announced on October 4th. As part of a trial, the True 5G service will be offered in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, and Varanasi. It is expected to become the world's most advanced 5G service, giving users unlimited 5G data with up to 1Gbps speeds.

The alpha trial service for other cities will be announced gradually, as the cities get ready.

On October 17, it was announced that Reliance Jio has selected it as a key supplier to provide 5G radio access network hardware across the nation.

Under the agreement, the company will provide base stations, 5G Massive MIMO antennas with high capacity, and remote radio heads that support various frequencies. Reliance Jio's 5G network will be able to communicate with its 4G network.

According to a statement from Reliance, on October 17 it was announced that it had a long-term contract with Ericsson to roll out 5G in India. The release said that this is the first partnership between the two companies.

The goal of the partnership is to upgrade the network infrastructure, drive innovation and deliver advanced services. In order to maximize the benefits of 5G toCSPs and their customers for individual subscribers or enterprise and industry customers, the network will use products and solutions from Ericsson.
