It won't help the Packers this week, when they are short on receivers, but veteran Randall Cobb said Friday he expects to return in two to six weeks.

"I felt something hit my body," he stated. I thought this was the way it would end. I'm happy to know that I'll be able to come back.

After he was injured in the loss to the New York Jets, he was taken to the locker room with a towel around his head. He said he had an ankle injury.

If the Packers believe that his injury is less than a year away, then he can avoid injured reserve. If he is placed on IR, he will be out for four weeks.

The Packers will be without two of their top players on Sunday at Washington, as well as one of their other top players, ChristianWatson, who will miss his second game because of a hamstring injury. The only other available receivers are Allen Lazard, Samori Toure, and the rarely used Amari Rodgers. Toure has not played in every game this season.

Sammy Watkins had to be added to the 53-man roster by Saturday to play against the Commanders. Watkins has not played in the last four games because of a injury. The Packers have two practice squad players who could be activated by the weekend.

The Packers have had a different leading receiver in each of their six games, but Cobb is second in receiving yards and fourth in catches. In the Packers' Week 5 loss to the New York Giants, he had seven catches for 99 yards and one catch for 8 yards.

This injury has been going on for a long time. In 2016 he missed only two starts.

"I missed a couple weeks and then came back for the playoff game against the Giants, the Hail Mary game," he said. I scored three times against the Giants in the playoffs last time. It was not as serious as it could have been.
