Miller is leaving the Connecticut Sun to become the next coach of the Los Angeles Clippers.

Miller had been the coach of the Sun since 2016 and led them to the finals in two of the last three years. During Miller's seven years as Connecticut's coach, the team made the playoffs in six of them and he won two of them.

The Sun's general manager, Miller, was named the league's executive of the year.

The general manager has not been named by the team. Fisher was replaced on an interim basis by Fred Williams after he was fired in June. For the second year in a row, the Sparks missed out on the playoffs.

Miller was a head coach at Bowling Green and Indiana while he was a college coach. After working as an assistant to Brian Agler in Los Angeles, he became the head coach of the Connecticut women's basketball team.

Miller said that he loved his first year in the league. "L.A. holds a special place in my heart, and I always said if I had an opportunity at some point in my career to lead this icon, it would be hard to pass up."

Miller said it was "bittersweet" to leave the Sun, who will join the Dallas Wings and Indiana Pacers in looking for a new head coach.

Connecticut has an incredible fan base with a lot of knowledge of women's basketball. There's something so enjoyable about being a builder. A new beginning is what L.A. is in. It's an opportunity for the team to come in and retool and rebuild and try to win a fourth title.

Los Angeles won back-to- back titles in 2001 and 2002. The team won a title in 2016 The last time they missed the playoffs in back-to-back years was in 1997 and 1998 when they didn't make the playoffs in back-to-back years.

Nneka Ogwumike is one of six unrestricted free agents going into the next decade. She wants to stay in Los Angeles, where she was drafted first.

There is an exciting balance in L.A. People would love to be here. We can have veterans through free agency as well as developing young talent. Nneka is the best leader in the whole league.

It's about the players in L.A., not me.
