Thanks to a terrifying new close-up photo, ants are coming after your dreams as well.

After placing in the Small World Photomicrography Competition, the photo was submitted again and went viral on social media.

It's probably a good thing we don't see nature at the smallest level because the closeup taken by Eugenijus Kavaliauskas is frightening.

The ant's leer is glowing like a demon, emerging from a portal.

Image from a horror movie? Nope. That’s the very real face of an ant. An ant.

Now you have to think about that all night. pic.twitter.com/HOWLTlnfJ1

Microcosm

The bases of the ant's antennae are its eyes. The image's vignetting hides its real eyes, but don't let that stop you from enjoying it.

The art of taking extreme digital close ups like this one by using a microscope is called photo micrography. Kavaliauskas used a 5x objective lens to take a picture of the ant.

The photo didn't break the competition's top twenty, but it earned the title of "image of distinction."

There is a nightmare creature that does not actually exist. We hope that's the case.

I don't want my personal information sold.
