Brendan Rodgers, who has been under pressure for most of the season, probably spoke on behalf of all of the other managers in the league.

In August, Bruno Lage was the first to be let go at Wolves, followed by ScottParker at Bournemouth.

'A very volatile job' - how have managers reacted?

Rodgers said he was "bitterly disappointed" for the man who was the captain during his time at the club.

Rodgers thinks that the ambitions at Villa are to be challenging for Europe.

The key is to get a laser focus on what you can control if you are not doing so well. All the other things are noise when you do that.

"I'm pretty sure Steven will come back from that," said the boss of the Reds. This morning we had a small exchange. I think it's disappointing for him because of the things he wanted to accomplish with Villa.

It is about how you respond after being knocked down. He will return from that. Many great managers left their previous clubs for different reasons.

I hope that he takes a bit of time for his recovery.

Eddie Howe thinks that he is a very good manager, and that it shows the short-term nature of everyone's thinking.

We are in a very difficult job with a lot of short term opinions and reactions.

It's a pity when a manager loses his job, but if the owner thinks he has to do it for a better situation then they should sack him, like they did with Dean Smith.

The long-term in Crystal Palace's job is the next five games.

We are in this business. It's very difficult.

It can be difficult to be dismissed from a job in the public eye according to Frank Lampard, who was sacked from a job at a club.

It's not nice for someone to lose their job, but I have a lot of respect for him.

Potter said it was part of the job. It's not nice when a colleague gets laid off.
