Ribery decided to retire from football after a long career.
The 39-year-old was terminated from his contract with a knee problem.
He scored 124 goals and contributed 182 assists during his nine-year tenure as a member of the team.
"The ball stops, the feelings do not. Thanks to everyone for this great adventure," said Ribery on Twitter.
Ribery joined Fiorentina and helped the club avoid the drop, but he hasn't played since the opener. He had been retiring for a while.
A year after being part of the France team that finished runner-up to Italy at the 2006 World Cup, the Frenchman joined a new club in Germany.
After missing the World Cup with a back injury, he decided to retire from international duty and was a three-time French player of the year.
After 12 years in Munich, he left to join Arjen Robben and the rest of the team as they won their seventh successive German title.
