I am not expert enough in international affairs to say a lot about Musk. Now we have a former advisor to Donald Trump who gave testimony at his first impeachment hearing suggesting that Musk is sending a message to Putin.

It's weird for me. Musk posted a peace proposal for the war in Ukraine. In response, sitting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy asked his followers if they preferred a pro-Russia or pro-Ukraine Musk. Having fun online is something I love to do.

The concern about water is so specific that it's clear that it's a message fromPutin.

It wasn't the first time Musk had said that the peninsula should be considered Russian. He said that the country should negotiate peace because of its recent success. The nature of the peace would be to allow Luhansk and Donetsk to be independent republics and not block the water to the peninsula. Those terms would be accepted by Russia.

CNN reported that Musk has been in contact with the Russian government. Hill feels the same way. The concern about water is so specific that it's clear that it's a message from Putin.

Most other people don't have the same kind of cultural power as Musk, who is also very popular in Russia. Hill points out that Musk has enormous leverage as well as incredible prominence.

The Masters of the Universe are usually interested in politics. Tax breaks, political donations, and puppet candidates are more likely to happen in the local area. When a business person gets involved in politics, it's not about moral superiority. Money is just how powerful the keep score is.

Is there an important geopolitical insight?

Through Starlink, Musk has been providing internet access to Ukraine. The cost of this will exceed $100 million by the end of the year. Musk is in contact with Fedorov. CNN reported that Musk told the Pentagon that he wouldn't be able to pay for the internet in Ukraine. According to documents obtained by CNN, Starlink costs close to $400 million for the next year.

In the absence of any evidence, I assume that Musk would be more focused on a conflict in the Middle East.

The DOD agreed to pay for service. Musk eventually said that the request had been withdrawn and that the US government should pay for Starlink. It's a private company by the way. Private companies are making money on war. The US is the client and the Ukrainians don't have to keep track of Musk's moods.

The last point is crucial. Musk was told to "fuck off" by a Ukrainian diplomat. When Musk wrote about Starlink funding, he said they were just following his recommendation. This seems to me to be a fairly obvious joke since there is a general problem of reading tone on the social networking site. I can't prove that the letter was written before Musk got into a feud with his followers. This kind of joke doesn't help if you're worried about Musk's commitment

During the brief window when it looked like Musk would join the board, his mood turned on a dime when he was asked to stop talking about the company on social media. It would be a waste of time for Musk to join the board. If we don't close by October 28th we'll go back to court.

In the absence of any evidence, I am assuming that Musk would take a conflict more seriously than buying a social media company. The optics aren't good for Musk. When people's lives are at stake, making dumb jokes in a business environment is not as bad as it is in other parts of the world. According to a UN report in September, more than 15000 people have been wounded or killed in the country. Russian conscripts are being shipped out into the world.

I don't think you can know for sure the markets are going to bottom out unless you know there's going to be a successful resolution of the Ukraine war

I'm pretty sure Musk was surprised by the blowback to his plan. More than half of Americans think the US can provide more, according to a survey. Supporting the war effort of the Ukrainians is popular. Less than 20% of Americans thought the US was doing too much. Musk's social circle is a place where it is not quite popular.

David Sacks is a friend of Musk. The venture capitalist was subpoenaed as part of the case, and after complaining about it on his show, All-In, he attempted to quash it. The judge who ruled on the motion noted that the movants created the burden of which they are now complaining. He was told to obey the subpoena.

It is pretty good earned media. Sacks wrote in The American Conservative that too many commentators on Ukraine don't know how to negotiate risk because they don't play enough high-stakes poker. Poker is a good example of a stand-in for financial risk. If you decide badly in poker, you will lose all your money.

Sacks is worried about his money. It makes sense for a VC to be worried about money. Sacks said on All-In that he doesn't think you can know for sure the markets are going to bottom out unless you know there's going to be a successful resolution of the Ukraine war.

Who is more relevant to that discussion than Putin?

Sacks is close to Musk. It is reasonable to think that Sacks and Musk are talking about politics. At one point in the text, Sacks offered to introduce Musk to a libertarian who was once a congressman. Musk says that he doesn't own a account on the social networking site.

On October 17th, Musk quoted an article written by Sacks in Newsweek about how everyone making fun of Musk's peace plan was engaging in "woke cancellation tactics." I don't think it's likely that Musk heard about Sacks' views for the first time. Sacks appears to be an actual friend of Musk, because he invested in Musk's companies, got involved in Musk's lawsuits, and appeared in Musk's texts. That is good. It makes me happy to have friends.

It's worth noting who around Musk has been asking for de-escalation. Who is more relevant to that discussion than Putin? The man is David Sacks. I don't have to discuss Musk's contact with anyone. The man is David Sacks. I don't have to think about whether I agree with Ian Bremmer's claim that Musk and Sacks talk a lot. Musk doesn't deny that he talked to Putin, but he also doesn't deny that he lied to Bremmer.

I don't feel like I'm in a bad spot in DC. She may have seen evidence that Musk and Putin are playing online chess. There is a simpler explanation for why Musk is out of step with the public. Musk is part of a group of people who have deep thoughts aboutUkraine. It is more embarrassing if you make a former presidential policy advisor assume you are floating test balloons for Putin when you are not.

All of Musk's Deep Thoughts about Ukraine have appeared between calls to buy his perfume, Burnt Hair, and a suggestion to link up with Trump and Parler. There is a movie event between Boss Baby and Das Boot. If it weren't for the pro-bono Starlink service that relies on Musk's goodwill, I'm not sure we'd have to interpret Musk's Ukraine thoughts.
