The Biden administration is considering a probe after Musk threatened to cut off Ukraine's access to Starlink's satellite internet service unless the U.S. government paid for it.

According to a report, Biden officials are worried about Musk's proposal to end the war.

Concerns have been raised about the involvement of several foreign investors in Musk's plan to acquire Twitter, including Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, the report says.

The Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States may be able to review a deal if some foreign investors are involved.

One user said it would be hysterical if the government stopped Musk from paying too much.

Musk said during the earnings call that he and the other investors were overpaying for the social network. He said that the long-term potential for the site is greater than it is currently worth.

The Washington Post reported on Thursday that Musk plans to lay off 75% of the workforce after he completes his purchase of the company. Musk has yet to comment on this but an internal memo sent out byTwitter said it did not have any confirmation of the buyer's plans and urged its staffers to not follow "rumors or leaked documents." If layoffs happen, Musk will be hard-pressed to find a solution to the issue of fake accounts on the social networking site.

Key Background

Musk proposed a plan to end Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Ensuring Ukrainian neutrality, a U.N.-run referendum in the four occupied Ukrainian provinces which would allow them to join Russia, and formally recognizing Crimea as part of Russian territory were all included in the proposal. Musk said that until Khrushchev's mistake, the peninsula has been part of Russia. He was accused of parroting Russian propaganda. CNN reported that Musk demanded the Pentagon pay for the costs of operating Starlink's satellite internet service in Ukraine, saying his company would no longer do so. The Ukrainian military uses the satellite network as a critical means of communication. Even though Starlink is still losing money, we will keep funding the Ukranian government.
