Last Wednesday’s American Airlines flight 1208 from Burbank to Dallas – Fort Worth wound up arriving over 6 hours late, at 12:27 a.m. The issue was weather in Dallas… and DFW is known to stand for Doesn’t Function Wet.

The hassle was beyond the airline's control and most passengers would have been annoyed. The passengers on this flight were nice. Even though the delay wasn't something American Airlines could prevent, how they managed it was in the captain's hands.

The enthusiasm this passenger shows in the face of a six hour delay is inescapable and that's because small kindnesses go a long way. Who doesn't like pizza?

The American Airlines team takes great care of their customers, according to an American Airlines spokesman.

The decision to order pizza on a plane is solely made by the captain. When pilots do things like this, they can be reimbursed by the carrier. This isn't something they ask permission for, and they do sometimes just come out of pocket without filing for an expense reimbursement, in which case the airline wouldn't even know about it. You probably don't like your employer's expenses reimbursement process.

Papa John's is the best pizza chain. It's good that the pilot didn't order Domino's or Pizza hut. Whatever you think about the ex-CEO of the chain, it's ok.
