The Wisconsin group's motion was turned down by Justice Amy ConeyBarrett.

The Brown County Taxpayers Association asked the court to stop the loan relief program while they pursue litigation against the Biden administration.

The group is appealing to the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals after their lawsuit was thrown out.

The motion to the Supreme Court argued that the program should be stopped immediately because it will lead to an increase in the national debt.

Some borrowers are expected to get student loan relief as early as Sunday.

Key Background

The student loan relief plan was announced by Biden in August and grants loan cancellation for borrowers making less than $125,000 a year. During the weekend, applications for debt relief began to roll out. The White House says that up to 43 million borrowers are eligible. The HEROES Act gives the Education Secretary the ability to modify student loans during times of national emergency, which is why the Biden Administration cited it to defend the plan.

A group is asking the Supreme Court to stop the student loan forgiveness plan.
