The manager of Villa has been fired.

Shortly after Villa's sixth defeat in 11 games, the club's decision was made.

In a statement released after the match, the club confirmed that head coach Steven Gerrard had left the club.

A club spokesman thanked Steven and wished him well for the future.

He lasted less than a year at Villa Park after replacing Dean Smith, becoming the fourth top-flight manager to lose his job this season.
