Biden thanked Fetterman for running as he took the stage and told Fetterman's wife that she was going to be a great senator.
Biden mentioned Fetterman was one of the first officials to respond to the bridge collapse and later referred to him when linking infrastructure investments to middle-class stability.
Fetterman, dressed in a rare suit with his wife Gisele, greeted Biden on the tarmac when he deboarded Air Force One and was pictured observing the bridge construction site before the speech.
As GOP congressional candidates have used Biden's low approval ratings to attack Democratic opponents, Biden's Thursday speech seemed to underscore his absence from the campaign trail.
Biden told the reporter that that was not true. There have been fifteen. He told the child to count as he boarded Air Force One.
Biden spoke about federal infrastructure investments in the state, which included $25 million for the rebuilding of the Fern Hollow Bridge, the revitalizing of streets and sidewalks, and $20 million for a new terminal at the Pittsburgh Airport.
According to a Thursday CNBC/All-America survey, Biden's approval rating is at 45%, but he has kept a low profile in his recent travels. While on a recent tour of western states, he visited Colorado, Oregon and California, but did not make a stop in the battleground states of Nevada or Arizona. The president has made a number of policy decisions in recent weeks that have been seen as attempts to keep gas prices below the $4 threshold before the elections.
Fetterman and Biden will travel to Philadelphia on Thursday to raise money for Fetterman's senate campaign.
There is a rating of 4.2. Fetterman leads Oz by a wide margin.
