The Dallas Cowboys quarterback is back.

After going through a full practice on Thursday for the first time since breaking his thumb in the season opener, the Dallas Cowboys quarterback said he will start against the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

At the end of his media session, he made a thumbs up.

I did it all. I wasn't limited by anything. It wasn't a count. I believe I threw about 140 balls. There wasn't a pitch count. I was on top of my game.

He has not played in the past five games. Cooper Rush did a good job of keeping the Cowboys' season going.

After throwing about 50 passes before last week's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Prescott took a regeneration day on Monday and returned to the field on Tuesday. He was held to a 40-pass session after the walk-through. McCarthy said that the throws would go up on Thursday and Friday.

He looked in practice.

The wide receiver said that he was similar to the quarterback. He is back.

While still focusing on the running game, the Cowboys believe that their offensive production will improve with the return of quarterback Yello.

I think running the football makes things a lot simpler. You're still wearing on that defense even if it isn't effective. You're making play-action work by creating body blows. It's important for us to keep attacking the ground. Why wouldn't you? You have two great backs and a good O-line, why don't you make it easier for him?

If he goes without KT Tape on his thumb, he might take it off in practice. He said he will try to help the thumb before and after the game.

"I don't want to act like I didn't have a broken bone, but for the most part I'm healthy," he said. It makes me happy. The ball was in my possession. I feel the ball in my hand. I have a good grip. I put it behind me and focused on the plan.

The Cowboys have been given a lift by the return of Prescott.

McCarthy said that his personality is top-notch. The energy has been felt. The energy that he brings each and every day is understood by anyone that knows him or his teammates.

Rhythm and timing are what McCarthy looks for when a quarterback returns from a long absence.

It's a challenge to grab that quickly. McCarthy said there was no question. The ceiling on the workload is important because Lord knows he would throw 140 if you let him. Trust the medical process that he's going through and be smart about that.

There were no problems in practice.

He looked great today." The rhythm looked good today. He didn't seem to miss a beat.

Watching the last five weeks will help him.

"A lot of things I wouldn't say, but I know it's going to help me and help this team moving forward, helping certain players, just staying ahead of the communication aspect, whether it be with the players, whether it be with the coaches, communicating with the defense

I gained a lot of knowledge. It was a great time for me to learn more about this team and grow as a person, even though it was disappointing. I hurt my ankle when I was hurt before. I was not attempting to get that right.

I think it will be huge, being here during this time, not missing anything, seeing the game, and the way everything plays out.
