There's a shortage of diabetes drugs because of a TikTok weight loss trend

Ozempic and Wegovy are currently used to treat diabetes and curb hunger. Both of them are made by the same company. Semaglutide and Wegovy are the same medication, but Wegovy is available in higher dosages.

Musk said he would take Wegovy to lose weight. People take Ozempic to lose weight. Some people on TikTok say that KimKardashian lost weight because of the drug.

One user says that he has seen news about KimKardashian's body transformation over the past couple of months. She thinks that Kim may have been on a GLP-1 semaglutide. The drugs are in a class called GLP-1 Receptor Agonists. They mimic how you feel when you eat.

A topic called "Ozempic" has more than 300 million views on TikTok and many users say they're using it to lose weight. Ozempic is approved by the FDA to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes.

Wegovy has been approved by the FDA for chronic weight management in people with at least one weight related condition. People taking it for weight loss are not taking it off the label like they are with Ozempic.

Both medicines are meant to be taken with a healthy diet and exercise plan, and they are both injections.

There is a shortage of medicine for people who need it. The company urged healthcare providers to not start new patients on Wegovy. They stopped advertising and promoting it, and decided to temporarily stop shipments of the first two dose strengths in order to reduce demand from new patients and increase the likelihood that there would be enough product available in the market to meet the needs of current people taking it. The FDA says the drugs are in short supply.
