Sen Raphael Warnock broke his silence on the abortion allegations against his opponent Herschel Walker in a new ad that called Walker a hypocrite for supporting a national ban on abortion procedures.
The allegations against Walker were first made public on October 3 in a Daily Beast story featuring an interview with a woman who said he urged her to have the procedure when she became pregnant with his child.
The ad begins with a narrator saying that Herschel Walker wants to ban abortion for you, and then shows clips of Walker speaking out against abortion.
Walker admitted to NBC News that he gave the woman a $700 check, though he claimed the money was intended to pay for the abortion.
In a debate last week, he vaguely mentioned the issue and said his opponent had a problem with the truth.
The abortion allegations are the latest controversy surrounding Walker, a former football player at the University of Georgia who has celebrity clout. The existence of three of Walker's four children he had out of wedlock was reported in the media this summer. He claimed in a recent debate that he worked for the FBI and law enforcement, but there is no evidence that he ever had the power to make an arrest. He claimed in a statement to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he is an "honorary deputy" in several Georgia counties. Following the publication of Walker's 2008 book revealing he has a personality disorder, he had a history of threatening and violent behavior towards women. He admitted to the domestic violence allegations and blamed his mental health issues.
There is a rating of 3.8. Since the abortion allegations were made public, the number of points Warnock leads Walker by is slightly higher.
There is a candidate with a long record of claiming to be a cop.
