According to sources, Mac Jones is expected to be available for the "Monday Night Football" game against the Bears.
Jones, who has been inactive the past three games, has told his teammates that his recovery from an ankle injury has progressed. Thursday is the first day of practice for the Pats.
When asked about the status of Jones and his overall quarterback plans in the last few weeks, the coach did not give a response.
"Hypotheticals and all that, I'm not going to get involved with that," he said. As we move forward, we will see what we are dealing with.
Veteran Brian Hoyer started the game for the Pats at Green Bay, but was knocked out after two series with a concussion and was replaced by rookies.
Two games in a row, Zappe has started. In 11 quarters of action, Zappe is 51-of- 70 for 596 yards with four touchdown and one intercept.
In the three games Jones has started this season, the Pats went 1-2 and Jones was 64-of-97 for 856 yards with two touchdown and five turnovers.
