Is it the UK? What is happening?

The shortest tenure of any UK PM has been that of Liz Truss, who just resigned after just 45 days. The previous record holder died in office. That's right, yes. It's not good.

It's been 45 days since Boris Johnson's resignation and it's been a busy time.

To make you aware of what's going on.

  • Queen Elizabeth II died two days after she became Prime Minister.

  • The pound fell to a historic low after radical fiscal policies were introduced less than a month into the job.

  • The Bank of England and the International Monetary Fund stepped in to save Britain's economy after it was brought to the brink of a recession.

  • The Chancellor was asked to resign and then did a complete U-turn on the budget. It's too late for her to get the support of her party.

  • The previous record for the shortest tenure of a PM was broken on Oct. 20 by Truss. The third prime minister of the United Kingdom will be in 2022. It's cool.

We would like to live through some precedented times.

The meme focused on the short time in office and the devastating impact of her time in office.

Liz Truss was outlasted by a lettuce

The Daily Star began live-streaming a lettuce in the days leading up to Truss' resignation in order to see which one would last longer. It was the lettuce that won.
