Diego Maradona's shirt from the World Cup final is back in Argentine possession.

The shirt Maradona wore in the first half of the 1986 World Cup final has been returned to the Argentine Football Association.

Lothar Matthus gave the shirt he wore with Maradona to the people of Argentina.

He was thanked by the AFA in a video.

The shirt Diego Maradona wore when he scored the "Hand of God" goal against England in the 1986 World Cup quarterfinals was sold for a record 7.1 million dollars. The shirt was put up for sale.

Lothar Matthus told the Daily Mail that he had never considered cashing in on his shirt.

Matthus presented the jersey to the Argentine people at a ceremony at the Argentine embassy in Madrid in August, saying thatDiego is a god in Argentina.

Matthus was sad that Maradona wasn't here today. Diego will be with us in our hearts all the time.

The shirt was displayed at a museum in Madrid before being returned to Argentina.

The AFA thanks Lothar Matthus in the name of all Argentines in a video.

A German captain had an Argentine captain as a friend. "Like all friends, they exchanged the best things they had, a hug, a piece of advice and the odd shirt," the narrator says in the video.
