The Indian telecom giant is aggressively expanding its offerings and has quietly launched its first laptop.

The laptop is powered by a custom OS that has been designed for superior performance and is compatible with local languages. Up to $60 in discounts are available with certain banking and card partners when you buy the laptop.

The JioBook has been in the works for at least 2 years. The company showed it at a trade show.

The specifications of the JioBook are not very high end. The display has a screen resolution of 1366 x 762. The processor is powered by a 2 GHz Octa-core. The laptop supports out of the box support for Reliance's 4GLTE network.

According to the firm's store page, the JioBook can last up to eight hours on a single charge, with up to 128GB of flash storage, and can feature up to 12 hours of battery life.

The laptop is one of a number of businesses Reliance has entered in the last few years. The firm, led by billionaire Mukesh Ambani, entered the telecom business six years ago and quickly became the top service provider in the country.

Over the past half decade, the company has launched feature phones and smartphones, as well as securing over $20 billion in funding. Last year, the company launched the next iteration of its phone. The custom operating system for the phone was developed by Reliance platforms.

The company is working on a book. Reliance plans to sell hundreds of thousands of units by the end of the year, according to the report.

A request for comment was not responded to by the company.
