Donald Trump and his sons tried to switch judges in the New York Attorney General's fraud lawsuit.

James' side fought with Trump's side to get the business documents and deposition testimony she needed for her investigation in the run up to the lawsuit, which was presided over by the state supreme court justice.

At times during hearings over the past several months, Trump attorney Alina Habba tangled openly with Engoron, to the point where, in February, his law clerk warned her to stop disrupting the judge.

Habba told the judge that he could order more affidavits if he wanted them. Habba said you can order anything you want.

"I don't understand why we are still in contempt," she complained in a hearing in June, when she was refused to budge on holding Trump in contempt for not complying with James' subpoenas.

She implied that the judge was biased in the case because of her client's race. That is worrying to me.

The lengthy evidence dispute, which involved more than 800 court filings and exhibits, is still open and related to the case.

Administrative Judge Adam Silvera ruled on Wednesday that the lawsuit should be presided over byEngoron.

The attorneys general argued that moving courtrooms would only delay things by requiring another judge to develop the level of familiarity Justice Engoron already has.

A trial date is expected to be set by the end of the year.

Trump's side was dinged by Silvera for having delayed accepting service of the lawsuit for three weeks, even as lawyers for Donald Trump, Eric Trump, and Donald Trump, Jr. made written requests to have it moved to the court's commercial division. The request to change judges was not supported by the president's daughter.

His ruling was delayed by that delay. The new lawsuit has made Engoron more involved.

He set October 31 as the date for the hearing on the attorney general's demand that the Trump Organization be immediately ordered to submit to an independent monitor.

The lawsuit could go on for another two years if the Trump Organization is barred from engaging in any fraudulent or illegal actions.

James is worried that Trump might try to move assets from the Trump Organization to the Trump Organization II.

Habba called James' demands a stunt. She said that the Trump Organization has no intention of doing anything wrong.
