Donald Trump was deposed under oath on Wednesday in a rape defamation case.

It was not clear whether Trump cooperated or pleaded the Fifth as he was questioned at his Palm Beach, Florida resort. The stakes in the case are about to increase.

The damages for defamation are only being sought at the moment. In her lawsuit, she claims that when she accused Trump of raping her in the '90s, he called her a liar and implied she was too unattractive for him to have bothered with.

Trump may have claimed his right not to incriminate himself during Wednesday's deposition, given that he will be sued for rape if a New York law temporarily suspending the statute of limitations for sex is not repealed.

She had a daily TV advice show and was a guest on NBC's "Today" show when she said Trump raped her.

She said Trump tricked her into a fitting room after chatting with her in the store, asking her for advice on shopping for lingerie, and then overpowering her. She claimed in court papers that she kept the dress she wore that day, and that she had sought Trump's genetic information.

Over the last three years, Trump has claimed that he would never attack her because she is not his type, and that he never met her.

On Tuesday night at his resort, Trump hosted a lavish, $1,00o-a-plate fundraiser and teased guests that he could soon announce his candidacy for president.

It's not known if Trump was forced to give up a sample of his genetic makeup. The trial for the lawsuit is scheduled to take place in New York.
