Android 13 (Go edition) brings Material You, Discover feed, and streamlined updates

• Google has introduced Android 13 (Go edition), releasing on new phones in 2023.

There is a new edition of the phone's operating system, called the Go edition.

The Go edition of the operating system improves how it updates entry-level phones and gives users direct updates from the company. There is a way into this release that will allow devices to receive essential updates outside of larger OS upgrade.

Users should be able to get critical updates quicker without taking too much storage and without having to wait for their manufacturer to push out the update themselves, according to Google. It's important because Android Go phones don't have a lot of storage space

The Discover feature on the 13 Go edition allows users to find the latest articles and other content from their home screen. It's not clear if the experience will be the same as what users find with the Discover feed.

Material You is the most significant change in the OS update. For the first time in the history of the Go phones, they can use this feature to set a background and pick a color scheme to compliment it.

Notification Permissions, App Language preferences, and other key features have been added to the Android 13 operating system.

The total number of users for the software has increased to over 250 million. The company hopes to continue to support its efforts on budget phones with the arrival of new Android Go phones in the fall of 2023.
