According to Bulls public relations, LaVine will miss the season opener with a left knee injury.

After shootaround on Wednesday in Miami, LaVine told reporters that his absence was due to load management for his knee.

He wasn't sure if he'd be able to play against the Wizards on Friday or if he'd be able to play on Saturday.

LaVine, who signed a five-year, $215 million max contract this past offseason, played through knee problems in the second half of the season before having surgery. He played in the team's first three preseason games and averaged 21.8 minutes per game before sitting out the final game.

After Friday's practice, LaVine once again expressed his confidence in his health.

He said he felt good. I think the main thing is being able to go out there and play without any limitations in my own mind, that's been the main thing." I feel better.

LaVine has made the All-Star team the past two seasons and averaged 24.4 points on 47.6% shooting. The Bulls will start the season without point guard Lonzo Ball, who is still recovering from knee surgery.
