John Fetterman has released a new medical report that says he is ready for full duty in public office and recovering well from the May stroke that almost killed him.

As voters prepare to make a decision in the high-stakes contest, Mehmet Oz and a number of media outlets have demanded greater transparency about Fetterman's health.

Are there any lingering effects from the stroke?

Fetterman's physical exam on Friday was normal and explains some of the effects of the stroke that sent him to the hospital just days before the Senate primary

Chen wrote that he spoke with intelligence. His speech was normal and he continues to have symptoms of an auditory processing disorder which can make it hard to hear.

The condition means Fetterman sometimes misses words spoken to him, and Chen wrote that while it can look like he hasn't heard them, it's actually that his brain hasn't been able to process them. The doctor said that Fetterman's ability to hear music and other sounds was unaffected by the stroke.

Since the stroke, Fetterman has used closed-captioning in media interviews.

Fetterman is taking a medication for his heart and is walking up to five miles without a problem according to the letter.

Lieutenant Governor Fetterman is committed to maintaining good fitness and health practices, according to Chen.

Sppech therapy crucial in improvement

The candidate's communication has improved with the help of speech therapy.

Rebecca Katz, the candidate's senior adviser, said in a statement that John is already fully ready to serve. It is difficult to recover from a stroke in public, but John has worked hard to get here, and it shows.

A representative of Oz's campaign called the medical report "good news" but said it doesn't make up for Fetterman's history of not paying taxes or his work on the state pardons board

According to Rachel Tripp, a spokeswoman for Oz's campaign, he can debate for 90 minutes, take live questions from voters and reporters, and do a second debate now that he appears healthy.

Oz wants to add another candidate forum to the debate schedule or shorten it from an hour to 90 minutes. Fetterman has been criticized by the Republican for not answering questions from the audience or the media.
