A college wrestler from a small Wyoming school saved his teammate's life by trying to wrestle the bear off his friend, who was later attacked by his own bear.

The men attribute their survival to their wrestling teammates at Northwest College in Wyoming.

Brady was attacked by a bear in the Shoshone National Forest while he and a friend were looking for antlers.

A bear ran out of the trees. I heard the crashing, but I didn't see it until it was in front of me. I could only say 'Bear!' There is a bear. I had to protect my head and fight for my life, you know what I mean?

He tried to stop the attack by yelling and kicking at the bear and pulling on it's fur.

I wanted to keep my friend. He told the Deseret News that it was terrible. There was a large animal on top of him. I could have gotten him off and saved him.

The bear turned on the man.

"It knocked me onto the ground and then, with its head, pushed me on the ground all the way up against the trees and it was attacking me," he said. I put my hands in its mouth to stop it from chewing on my neck.

The bear walked away, but only for a short time.

"I heard the bear grunting behind me, and I heard it walk," he said. I saw it again and it attacked me.

After the bear left again, he got up and started looking for his teammates. In the meantime, he was able to use his cell phone and call for help.

August Harrison and Orrin Jackson helped badly injured Cummings off the mountain and carried him. The man was able to walk alone.

The two ended up at a hospital in Montana. The men were not listed as patients there Tuesday.

The wrestlers joined their coach at the hospital to support their teammates.

"I'm proud of them, they love each other, they protected each other, the way they stuck together, and that's what I'm proudest of," he said. I can't imagine what it would be like. They didn't realize how frightening it was until after it had ended. I'm proud of them for doing what they did and helping each other survive.

The father of the boy credited the man with saving his life.

Dallas said that Kendell is a hero. The bonds that are built in college athletics last forever.

His father said the same thing.

If it wasn't forummings pulling the hair andHarrison scaring the bear away, I wouldn't be here today. It was a group effort. We adore each other. Because of this, we are going to be best friends for the rest of our lives.

Wildlife officials in Wyoming will not attempt to relocate or kill the bear because it was a surprise attack and because there are many other bears nearby.
