Sometimes It’s OK to Cheat in Video Games

Since the release of the last game in the franchise, God of War, fans have been waiting for the sequel. It is fun and everyone wants to go to Kratos and his friends again.

I am a fan of that group. I didn't finish God of War.

This may not be a problem for a lot of people. I understand if you want to experience the new one immediately. The God of War series is not easy to understand. When it comes to its characters, world, and lore, there are many ups and downs. When a side plot point doesn't work out as it should, playing without knowing all of them can lead to serious FOMO.

I could pick up where I left off. It is difficult and full of complicated controls. There is an easy mode, but it is difficult. I left it in the first place. I had to win the battle to get the improvements I needed, but there was a boss I couldn't beat. I didn't think there was a way out of it. I didn't want to go back after getting stuck.

My solution was to cheat. Not cheating, okay? This isn't a full defense of cheat codes. I'm not going to feel guilty about it.

It was a revelation when I realized I could just watch a 15-minute video on the internet instead of playing a game. I am invested in the characters and world but am at a standstill when it comes to actually playing the game. I try to make at least one story and one game video on the site. A refresh on how the first one worked will always be helpful despite the studio tweaking the controls.

The God of War franchise would benefit from this kind of story explanation. The game was an entry point for people like me, but it wasn't a new game. There was already a lot of story I didn't know about it. It's easy to fill in the blanks when you go on a choose-your-own adventure on a video about the franchise.

In order to understand the full story of the game, you have to play it and earn your knowledge, so these methods are wrong, if you ask most "serious" gaming enthusiasts. That may be correct. I'm okay with that. I don't care.

Video games are a way for me to relax. I don't need to make money. I need to make money to pay for entertainment. My release date is 21 days away, and I have a lot of videos to watch.
