Finn Russell is expected to be left out of the initial Scotland squad.
The first match between Racing 92 and Australia is outside the Test window.
It's believed that Scotland's coach will go into the next matches without Russell.
The number 10 shirt is likely to be given to Blair Kinghorn.
Russell has been the Scots' fly-half for the last three years. When Russell walked out on the squad prior to the Six Nations in 2020 he strained his relationship with the coach.
Russell was dropped from the starting line-up for the Six Nations finale against Ireland after being one of six players to go out on a night out.
Russell and several other leading players were rested for the summer tour of Argentina.
