The New York Yankees defeated the Cleveland Guardians in the fifth game of the ALCS. New York's power shone through again, as evidenced by the early home runs by the two players. The Yankees will play the Astros in the ALCS on a day off.

The final game of the division series round has a lot to offer.

Playoff schedule and bracket

Game 5 takeaways

New York Yankees right fielder Judge appears to be turning an offensive corner when his team needs him the most.

That blast was followed by another big fly from the other side, who has three career homers in winner-take-all playoffs. Judge has more than any other major leaguer.

Cleveland's night was over before it started. The starter was pulled after only 14 pitches and a laser over the fence. They immediately turned to the other side of the building. Terry Francona's decision to go with the back-of-rotation right-handed pitcher who was making his first career postseason appearance will be the focus of the chatter surrounding the team. Prior to Game 5, Francona said that he didn't think it was a good idea to have the ace pitch on three days' rest. The elimination game may have been Cleveland's last chance.

New York will have a quick turn around after Tuesday's victory. The Yankees don't have a lot of time to prepare for the ALCS. The first game of the series will be played at 7:37 pm. The Yankees' ALCS ended in the Bronx on Tuesday.

Naylor gets taunted

A chant of "Who's your daddy?" could be heard across Yankee Stadium as Josh Naylor got ready to bat. The Yankee faithful let him hear his celebration after he hit a home run in Game 4.

Yankees jump ahead

The fans in the right field stands got two treats, as the first baseman hit a three-run bomb and the second baseman hit a solo shot. It's the fourth time in the playoffs that the Yankees have had a pair of teammates hit homers in the same game.
