According to the U.S., Iranian drones were used in attacks in the Ukranian city of Kyiv. Iran has denied the allegations.
Josep Borrell, the EU's foreign affairs chief, said at a press conference Monday that the EU would be ready to react to the use of drones.
One EU official, who did not want to be named due to the sensitivity of the situation, told CNBC Tuesday that the bloc could be ready to impose sanctions in a matter of days.

A second EU official who preferred to remain anonymous told CNBC that there could be new sanctions soon.
The first official said that these are likely to impact entities that are involved in facilitating the delivery of drones to Moscow.
There could be new sanctions on Iran in a few days. The EU imposed sanctions on Iran on Monday for violating human rights after the death of a woman in police custody. A total of 97 individuals and 8 entities were hit with sanctions on Monday.
France and the U.K. have warned Iran that it would be in violation of the nuclear deal if it supplied weapons to Russia. The attempts to revive this accord could be in vain. The talks between Iran, the U.S. and the EU have stopped recently.
