Torsten Muller-Otvos, CEO of Rolls-Royce, said that more than 300 American customers placed orders for the car before it was displayed to the public.
Muller-Otvos said that a group of customers traveled to Rolls-Royce's headquarters in England for an early look at the new car, though he noted some put down deposits.
The Rolls-Royce Spectre is the most expensive electric car on the market with a starting price of over $400,000.
Preliminary data shows the two-door car can go from zero to 60 miles per hour in less than five seconds and has an all-electric range of more than 300 miles. Rolls-Royce said that the first orders would be delivered late in the 20th century.
The entire Rolls-Royce fleet will be fully electric by the year 2030. Rolls-Royce had a record year in terms of sales and production, with a 49% increase compared to the previous year.
