The National Football League and Amazon announced on Tuesday that the first ever Black Friday NFL game will be streamed on the website.
The game will be played at 3 pm. The first NFL competition to take place on the day after Thanksgiving is a tradition for the league. The teams for the Black Friday game will be announced in the near future.
The announcement places the game on a discount holiday for brick-and-mortar retailers, which could cause shoppers to go to Amazon. Black Friday and Cyber Monday are online shopping days.
Jay Marine, Global Head of Sports at Prime Video said, "We're thrilled to kick it off with a gift for football fans across the country with this new game"
This year's Black Friday is expected to be worse than in the past. The weakness has been growing as stores spread out promotions during the holiday season.
Amazon's "Thursday Night Football" broadcast is averaging 10.8 million weekly viewers and has been praised by the announcement. According to Tuesday's release, that is more viewers than "Thursday Night Football".
