Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones is hopeful that his quarterback will be able to return to the lineup on Sunday against the Detroit Lions after missing five games with a broken thumb.
Jones said on The Fan that he was determined to play. I believe he's going to get there, from what I can see. He's at a point in his life where the risk and reward justify him being out there.
Jones said that the quarterback had a very impressive throwing session before the game. He said he was going to play against the Lions. On Monday, coach Mike McCarthy said that he would allow the quarterback to return to practice on Wednesday.
Last week, he began throwing after having surgery.
The last threshold is always returned to play. McCarthy said it was for any position. If you don't feel like you're ready to play, you might need another week. That's why we've been trying to do as much throwing as we can, particularly the individual routes on air, in order to bring him back. I think we've done our homework.
Jones doesn't believe that overcompensating for the thumb would cause problems with his throwing motion.
Jones thinks he has a chance to get out there.
Jones doesn't think the Cowboys will have to limit their offense when the quarterback is back.
Jones said that they would get to do whatever they wanted to do. Nobody is more prepared. No one has worked harder to prepare for a football game than Dak. I believe we have it all there. There will be no limitations on what we do.
