Delanie Walker announced Tuesday that he is retiring from the National Football League.
Walker said via the team site that he was thankful for the time he spent playing the game. It worked out better than I thought.
Walker was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the sixth round of the 2006 draft. Walker signed a four-year contract with theTitans.
Walker was named to the Pro Bowl in three of his seven years in Nashville, where he was a tight end. Walker's 4,423 receiving yards are the second most in franchise history for a tight end.
Walker joined the team after four years as a captain and helped turn things around. He played in just seven games in the last year because of injuries. Walker did not sign with a new team after he was released.

The Delanie Walker gave back foundation provides educational opportunities and resources to inner-city and low-income children. He was an active member of the local chapter of MADD.
Walker had over 5000 yards and 36 touchdown in 14 seasons.
Walker will be honored by theTitans during the halftime ceremony on Sunday.
