  • Google is giving parents more control of their children's Google TV accounts.
  • Google Assistant can now recommend content to kids on their streaming accounts.
  • Family Link is getting a newly streamlined UI with easy access to controls, location, and more.

New updates for parental controls will be rolled out to families today. Additional controls for kids are included in the new features.

Adding a few things to Kids Profiles will help them find more content they enjoy. The platform will allow parents to add their children's watchlists directly from their own profiles.

If you don't know what shows your kids are interested in, you can use the Assistant to find more content. Recommendations will be based on ratings parents have given their children.

The redesign of the Family Link app is similar to the redesign of the Home app. The large cards have been replaced by a series of small panels on the Highlights tab that give parents a better idea of how they use their phones.

You can easily see the location of your kids on a single map with their phone's battery percentages included. When their children arrive home, parents can set an alert.

The Control tab makes it easy to find the controls parents know and love. The "Today Only" feature sets a temporary screen-time limit if parents want to reward their kids with more screen time.

The notifications section is accessible by hitting the bell icon. Parents can view updates at this location. When parents are away from their phones, Family Link can be accessed on the web.

Over the next few weeks, these updates to Family Link will be available to everyone.
