Let me tell you what's going on. When a commodity or security's value goes down a lot, it can bounce back a bit. If the underlying forces that drove the security negative remain in place, a short-lived rebound can be seen. A dead cat bounce is the sort of small rebound that a cat's corpse can manage if it falls from a high window.
