The Yankees took a three-run lead as Harrison Bader hit a home run. There is a time and a place.

The Astros will have to wait at least one more day to find out who they're playing in the playoffs.

The Game 5 of the American League Division Series between the Cleveland Guardians and New York Yankees was canceled due to weather.

The announcement was made at 9:30 p.m. The decisive game of the series will be played on Tuesday at 4:07 p.m. at Yankee Stadium.

The start of the game was delayed because of a forecast of rain. Over two hours later, the league ended.

A pitcher was scheduled to pitch against another pitcher. After the washout, New York said that the All-Star would start on Tuesday. The left-handed starter allowed two runs in five starts but did not factor into the decision as the Indians won in overtime.

The postponement gives the Cleveland ace the chance to pitch on Tuesday. Terry Francona said last week that the team was hesitant to start the 2020 American League Cy Young Award winner on short rest because of his shoulder injury.

The infield at Yankee Stadium was covered with a tarp just before dark. The rain began at 7:30 pm.

During the delay, Straw and Brennan exchanged football tosses with fans in the first and second decks, as well as one another.

New York City's win over Miami in the MLS playoffs was shown on the center field video board along with the New York Rangers game and the Denver Broncos game.

Nine times at home and two times on the road, the young Guardians were rained out.

The Yankees have a day to rest. On Sunday, New York used a pitcher for 17 pitches, and another for seven. The pitcher had pitched three days in a row.

Aroldis Chapman was left off the series roster after failing to show up for a mandatory Oct. 7 workout because the Yankees are missing several players.

The Indians' top relief pitchers have not been used since Friday when Clase threw 33 pitches. On Saturday, the Guardians used Sam Hentges (31), Enyel De LosSanto (19) and Eli Morgan (12).

The ALCS is set to start in Houston on Wednesday, with the Astros sweeping the Mariners in the ALDS. The series came to an end Saturday.
