Hunt and Paxton in Twister

Look out for the flying cows when you hop in the truck. Twister was the film that brought the weather to the extreme. The sequel to the 1996 hit called... wait for it... will be made by Universal Pictures and Warner Bros., according to a report. There are twisters.

Mark L. Smith wrote the Twisters script and Joseph Kosinski was attached to direct. The studios are trying to find a new director after he dropped to make another movie. Jimmy Chin and Elizabeth Chai Vaserhelyi are two of the names on the short list. Universal hopes to have filming done by the spring of the following year. After the story went up, Trachtenberg denied it on social media.

The daughter of Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton's characters from the first film will be the focus of the plot. Hunt wants to reprise her role. Sadly, Paxton passed away in the year 2017:

Twister was a monster hit when it was released in 1996 and has remained popular ever since. I still quote it frequently, whether it's the team talking about "the finger of God," or the character of "the Extreme." It will be hard to match the energy of the first film, even if the script is good. The supporting cast is the main focus of Twister. Everyone is so good, including Cary Elwes as the villain, Jami Gertz and Lois Smith.

A new Twister movie with modern-day special effects would be great if Spielberg loved the script. We are prepared to go.

Dan Trachtenberg denied his involvement in the film.
